Mount Kilimanjaro Trip

Wesses Heartbeat logoOnce again I am off on my travels. This time I plan to trek up Mount Kilimanjaro. The last time I planned to do this I ended up at Everest. Not bad navigation on my part but due to unrest in Kenya at the time. So I hope to finally get to Kilimanjaro next February 2011. This time I am raising money for Wessex Heartbeat who were very supportive last year when Paul had his triple heart by-pass.

We plan to run a number of fundraisers over the next year. We have already raised £100 with a quiz and £190 with a car boot sale. We plan to repeat the car boot sale on 30th May at 8.30 am in the pub car park and are organising a sponsored dog walk in September (please see attached sponsor form if you would like to join in).

Chris PackhamThe most exiting fund raiser that we are organising to date is two talks by BBC Spring Watch’s Chris Packham. Chris will be giving his talk entitled “Never Mind the Buzzards, here’s the really wild life” at Burton Bradstock Village Hall on Friday 25th June at 4 pm and 7.30 pm.

Tickets are £12 for adults and £9 for children 12 and under. Tickets are available from The Three Horseshoes and Burton Bradstock Post Office. The talks will be accompanied by an exhibition of Chris’ wild life photography at The Three Horseshoes and in the Reading Room at Burton Bradstock.

Download this pdf with more information about Never Mind the Buzzards. You can also see Chris' photography on his website.

If you would like to organise a sponsored event to raise funds for Pam's trip, you can use this sponsorship form.

You can also make donations directly to Wessex Heartbeat at www.justgiving.com/Pam-Middlemast

Three Horseshoes Garden Refurbishment

Three Horseshoes gardenThe Revd Bob Thorn did the honours at the reopening of our newly refurbished garden on Saturday 10th April. Regulars turned out to enjoy an afternoon of festivities and witness the cutting of the ribbon and the blessing by The Revd Thorn. We are delighted with the new patio area which should make wheelchair and pushchair access much easier for their customers an added a touch of “the Mediterranean” to the Jurassic Coast.
